Our kids share none of the same respect and honesty that we once did at their age having no idea that anything worth doing should be worth doing right. Knowing the proper way to dress does not seem to be in their mode of thinking, in fact, unless a strict dress code is being enforced, say for instance wedding dresses and suits at a special event, who knows what sort of attire they will present themselves in. Some kids enjoy playing dress up and I suspect those are the ones that do well when thinking about a career. The way you dress says a lot about you, which means if you dress like a slob, you probably are one.

There are many things we do in our lifetime, some are just in passing, while others mean more to us than we care to admit. When it comes to women, the most imortant day in their life has got to be the day they say “I do” to the man they expect to spend the rest of their lives with. As you prepare for that special day, as a man, you should be prepared to be there on time as you see it, say it, do it. Men have a tendency to freeze up on that special day, which just goes to show which one of the sexes is the stronger one. Since we should be accepting others the way they are, women should be just a little more understanding as men show off the fact that they are not comfortable with making lifelong commitments.

As a man and his pregnant wife are vacationing he is pulled over by an officer of the law. After writing a citation for allegedly speeding, Jared Massey chose to refuse to sign the ticket which caused the state trooper to threaten to arrest him.

As Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Jon Gardner was requesting Massey to turn and prepare to be handcuffed, Massey appeared to be walking back to his car, a reaction that caused the trooper to taser the unwilling driver. As I understand it Massey accepted a settlement of $40,000.00 after taking the matter to federal court, a result that may or may not have been warranted. No matter who you are there is going to be a little rage building up in you for the reaction taken by the trooper, the question is, did he use excessive force.

I have never really considered myself as a world traveler by any means, although I have been to several countries both to the east and to the south of where I live. I have never had the opportunity to travel to Scotland though and I hear the people and the accommodations are both top notch.

I may not be the best at it, but I enjoy cooking tremendously. This is my opportunity to show off to the rest of the family just how well I can perform when it comes to putting together a delicious dinner. I am very fussy though, especially when it comes to my kitchen. I don't mind others using it, but they MUST wash up their dirty dishes and put them away when they are through.

As I get older it seems as though my list of ailments only gets worse and if I did not know better I would think that there was something unfair about this whole thing. As I think about the fact that I was at one time a victim of substance abuse, (smoking) I wonder if it was those years of being a victim that put me in the predicament that I am in today. Although I did not have to visit any drug rehab centers, my addiction to cigarettes was as bad as it gets. Smoking is almost as bad as alcohol abuse, however, as far as drugs go, they both present opportunities to abuse your body.

There are many reasons to have the law on your side, not the least of which is to help level the playing field when someone does you wrong. The problem is that there are so many laws on the books that unless we hire an attorney to help sort them all out we may be under the impression that we have no recourse when someone puts the screws to us. We have come to depend on the medical profession to do the right thing, however, the moment they became more concerned about making the big bucks at our expense was the moment that we decided to hire a lawyer.

So the majority of this country and the rest of the world has decided that they will follow some sort of religious beliefs. The problem with the way these beliefs are displayed is that if you decide on a public display you should expect someone to attack you. The attacks usually come from those who prefer to live a sinful life and are not happy to have their conscience influenced in any way. In the case of politics, we should expect a massive attack on any political hopefuls, because attacking a politician seems to be the new standards we will be living by.

I am really friendly, and make friends wherever I go. I like to hang out at he local coffee shop and chat with all my neighbors on the weekends. Last weekend I was there, and one of my neighbors said that her house was broken into and cleaned out while she was on vacation. They took everything of value she had, including her computer and all the TVs. I felt so terrible for her because she is such a wonderful person. She always volunteers to participate in all of our neighborhood events, and is a full-time teacher at the local elementary school. Her and her husband work hard for everything they have, and it is terrible to get news like that about a friend. When I got home I started to worry about my house and safety. We all know that learning new things is best achieved by making it a fun experience, but I am not so sure about technology. I am not in the habit of choosing accessories based on any particular fashion or design, if the truth be told I don't particularly see the need for accessories in the first place, I am interested in the messenger bag though, especially when I think about the convenience it adds to the items I end up traveling with. As we move around from one place to another we may find the use for such things as beach bags or designer bags, women tend to turn to a shoulder bag or their usual handbags to carry their personal items with them, while you can usually see a guy lugging around one or two laptop bags with them. Now that I spend most of my working hours at home I no longer have to wear uniforms before I leave the house. There was a time when I would put on one of my nurse uniforms and head to work, however, that is now a thing of the past. I have never considered myself as a social butterfly by any means, but there are times when I have been known to invite friends and family to my home. I don't think I will ever get used to the deplorable mentality of my fellow citizens in this country. We have reached a stage in our lives where anyone with an ambitious bone in their body when it comes to politics must prepare to ward off the lowest forms of attacks in order to get into office. While I understand that the responsibility to lead the greatest nation in the world should not be given to just anyone, do we really want to break down people's resolve that much? I guess it only goes to show that we all have skeletons in our closet.

I have never liked the word divorce, in fact although I have been married more than once I am only prepared to take the blame for the first failure in marriage. I am usually very disappointed when I learn about someone being taken to the cleaners through one of these legal transactions, however, nothing could ever prepare me for the losing party going on a rampage because of the end results. I guess I might be a little more sympathetic if I hear that the man was 73 years old and he lost everything to the woman that claimed to love him, but that is still no excuse.

My husband has a great job and makes enough money for me to stay home with the kids. It is really a great life and I am so lucky he is able to provide for us. However, his job has him traveling all the time. It makes it a little lonely around the house. Before kids, it was sometimes nice to have the alone time and be on my own schedule. Now the kids miss him and I miss him and we can’t wait for him to return. Last year, I had a Chicago home security installed. I needed to feel more protected. It is funny that I was fine when it was just me, but now I worry more about the kids. I felt like I was always sleeping with one eye open. I was making sure no one was stealing my kids or they were not running out the door. Now I at least know when the door or windows open. Some things make life easier and sometimes we need those things. Thankfully, my husband completely understood. He really is quite a catch.

I am pretty certain that when Frankie and Kayla Almuina decided to duct tape their kids they were just having fun within the family, however, in today's world that sort of fun could land us all in a lot of trouble. I don't know the family at all, in fact I tend to feel bad for them for the trouble they have managed to get themselves into. If you ask the children what was happening they would probably say that they were simply having a good time with mommy and daddy and while that could be the case, many are taking offense to this kind of fun. I think the biggest mistake that this family made was to post the photos on Facebook, because now they are in a heap of trouble.

Sentenced to a life of crime

Being on the wrong side of the law seems like a life long problem for Joseph Lee Stafford and his recent contact with a Pasco County SWAT team was simply a case of adding insult to injury. At 52 years , this felon has been no stranger to law enforcement for about two decades and apparently with no help from the prison system to help him get back on track. While I realize that Joseph could very well be the maker of his own destiny, I can't help but wonder if the legal system played a major part in his action against his estranged wife.

Having a goal in life is always a good thing, in fact many people are unable to function properly if some sort of agenda is not in place. Planning where you hope to be in the coming years is one thing, however, planning for eternity can be a bit trickier. If we try to make our plans to succeed on our own, we may as well prepare to fail, because we already know that we cannot succeed unless we hand it all to Jesus Christ. The thing is that there is really no reason to think that what we do makes a difference, because the only requirement that we need is to faithfully accept and give our lives to Jesus Christ.

Preparing for your newborn

It seemed like only yesterday that my son was brought home from the hospital in swaddling blankets as tiny and cute as could be. The plan was to minimize the length of time he stayed at the hospital, especially since he was our first born child. No plan is ever foolproof and in some cases the baby ends up staying there longer than anyone is comfortable. Newborns can be so unpredictable when they first enter the world, in fact it all depends on the individual infant, how quickly they can be returned to their respective homes.

The trick in getting ready for your firstborn child is to have everything prepared for its arrival. While this can be a costly event, there are places where you can acquire needed beddings and blankets like crib blankets at reasonable prices. Depending on where you live, the temperatures may be a bit colder and the thickness of the blanket could make all the difference in the world.

Some parents prefer to avoid the blankets altogether and choose the baby sleep sack. One of the reasons for this choice is because of their concern for their newborn infant becoming entangled in a blanket. The sleep sack is a comfortable option that is perfectly safe and will work well, regardless of where you live or what the climate happens to be. In the warmer climates (where I am originally from) a sleep sack would have worked well, but would not have been necessary. In North America and other colder climates, however, they are perfect for any baby and are actually suggested by some pediatricians.

I can vaguely recall the very first television set that our family owned, boy was that a long time ago. First of all you have to realize that I grew up in the West Indies and things were not as advanced as they are today. The television was a thirteen inch black and white and just so you know, there was no such thing as a remote control back then. Yes I know, I am giving away my age here.

Back then there was no such thing as Satellite TV or anything else for that matter, in fact, if the truth be told, we only had one television station and the programs that came from it was nothing like it is today. I certainly don't know how we survived back then.

With the introduction of Satellite TV, our options have drastically increased as far as programming goes. The great thing about this technology is that the reception is far superior and the equipment has been made much smaller so you don't need the big back yard dish that you needed when it was first introduced. Because of the fact that it is satellite, many stations from different areas can be received. I sure could have used this technology when I was growing up.

Even though residents are routinely arrested for alleged dealings with drugs, it does not warrant what appears to be blatant misconduct by those who swear to protect and serve us. The future of our protective services appear dim at best, more so when they have no idea what it means to act in a professional manner. Gun activists were out in force as they attempted to counteract the actions by officials in the state of Texas. It seems as though the badges and other members of the protective services were attempting a buy back program for the purpose of getting more weapons off the street. As a community we must be accountable for our actions and we understand that, but maybe someone can explain to me why the government holds the position that with fewer guns and ammunition in the hands of law abiding citizens, the lower the crime rate will be. Any individual who tries to rationalize the fact that crime will be reduced with less guns needs to have themselves checked in for treatment, because the only thing that will come about from such a move is the lost ability to protect oneself, giving the criminal the upper hand.

Because I have been driving for more years than I can remember, I have been exposed to one speed trap after another and while I can agree with many fines that are enforced, it is my opinion that speed traps are nothing more than a form of entrapment. I thing drivers and passersby that warn you that you may be heading into a speedtrap are serving to assist their fellow drivers from falling into a trap that they could avoid, in fact I myself would flash my lights if I ever realized that oncoming drivers were facing a possible ticket. When I first relocated to the United States I found myself having to adjust to several different ways of thinking. First of all I never had to deal with temperatures lower than maybe 65 – 70 degrees. Words like extra insulation and double glazing installers were certainly not part of my vocabulary, unless they were centered around people who were interested in keeping the heat out and the air conditioning in. Individuals would be inclined to consider trapping as much cool air inside their homes, in order to maintain a cool and well balanced temperature on the inside.

The first 10 – 15 years of my existence in the US were centered in the northern states where it was necessary to secure experienced double glazing installers for your windows, in order to keep the heat in. What a difference that was! Because (at that time) I was only interested in renting, it would not be me completing the task of finding qualified personnel as the heat (and air) was escaping, it was the landlord. Being a good landlord was of course required if they expected any sort of commitment from me.

As the landlord secured the installers, I would observe with interest as the windows were replaced. What concerned me the most was the fact that the landlord would try to increase the rent, however, I guess he saw the light and realized that the inhabitants of his rental property deserved to have a decent place to live. After replacing a few windows, the visibility to the outside world and throughout the rest of the house had greatly improved. As I said before, only commitment is needed if you are looking for a good tenant here and he certainly had it.

History is something I really love, especially ancient history. Of special excitement to me is archeology and anthropology, and all of this is why my favorite shows to watch on television are documentaries which focus on Egypt and the pyramids. Quite often, I’ll switch the Direct TV over to the Discovery Channel or one of the other history type channels and watch these shows with the benefit of high definition. The Egyptian landscape with the magnificence of those towering, incredible pyramids comes across in an almost nondescript manner via t! he advance technology that HD provides.

It’s about as close to being there as a person can get. These towering creations are legendary, and we’re still learning their secrets. One of the shows I watched recently followed Dr. Zahi Havass, Secretary General of the Egyptian Supreme Council of Antiquities, as work continued on the restoration of the pyramids in Egypt, and it was just fascinating what viewers were allowed to see.

Standard transmission of the airwaves just couldn’t convey the wonder of actually going inside the great edifices and into places where only Havass and his team of workers were normally allowed. It was actually scary because they ran into snakes. It was so real it made me jump. For a place as full of mystery and awe as the Egyptian pyramids, only the best picture will do.

Is television affecting the way we think?

One of the very first television shows that I can remember as I was introduced to this new world of entertainment was My three sons. For those who actually remember this program, they will agree that it is filled with something for everyone. Although the show reflected a variety of entertainment levels, compared to what we see today, (even with satellite) was tame in comparison. As technology improves in our equipment and Satellite TV increases our options, the kind of shows that we are exposed to are increasing in the level of violence.

In the early stages of television entertainment, Programming was designed to compliment the fact that the television set was actually broadcasting shows into our living rooms. In the early days , programming was far superior in its integrity and even though our reception was inferior based on the clarity of todays viewing experience, coupled with the fact that our television sets were in fact smaller, we did not have Satellite TV to improve our choices.

Because of all the improvements to our viewing options, you would think that what we received today as far as choices would improve, some would say that it has not. Although there is a growing dependency to settle in front of the television, many are looking for a very different kind of choice with the stations that they watch. I don't know how we survived all these years with the increased violence, I really hope someone can wake up and realize that what they bring into our homes can affect the way we think and live our lives.

Are we ever ready for the birth of a new baby?

Generally speaking, most expectant parents are anxious for their new addition to arrive. Having a new baby is a beautiful thing, unless of course you were not expecting it, or you never wanted children in the first place. Before I start getting hate mail let me say this, I understand that there are children that come into this world “unplanned”, it is how we deal with those unexpected pregnancies that make us who we are.

After your new born is given to you in baby blankets, you realize that there is nothing more precious that you can experience. Hospitals, however, do not offer personalized blankets for your newborn. Adjustments can be made by having a set of swaddling baby blankets for your new addition, (complete with name, providing you know the sex beforehand) an act that can easily make the transition that much easier.

With everything that goes on with your newborn, including the over indulging grandparents and their expected protectiveness, things can become quite over bearing, especially if you (as parents) are not completely prepared. Expecting parents are never really ready for the new arrival, although they may think that they are. While the expectant parents may have the needed furniture, without the appropriate swaddling blankets, it seems that they are missing something. One thing is certain, it all seems worthwhile when that new baby comes screaming into this world.

I probably spend so much more time on picking out a present for my older sister than I do for all the time I spend picking out gifts for all my other friends and family combined. We’re extremely close even though it wasn’t always that way. It used to be that we fought all the time but once we both got into college and actually went to the same one, we started hanging out all the time and have been inseparable since then.

There have actually been a couple of times when I wanted something for Christmas and she picked out the perfect thing and then vice versa. I was online trying to come up with that luck again, when I randomly found a wireless Internet online offer and after I looked through it some more, I decided to sign up for it for my apartment’s Internet access.

I found these really awesome rainbow mittens to give her for Christmas and I can’t wait for her to see them. She has a really quirky sense of style and I think they’re going to fit right in with that.

There always seems to be a festival or holiday somewhere

One of my favorite things to do this time of year is go see the Tanglewood Festival of Lights. I’ve been going ever since I was a little girl, and it’s still something that I feel like I have to do, or my holidays will seriously feel incomplete.

Now that I’m out of school, it’ll be even easier for me to just break away and go (since I used to be hours away from the site in college). My friends really don’t get it since the light displays hardly ever change, but that’s kind of why I love it. I mean, think about it, you go once a year, so you have 365 days to essentially forget about its awesomeness until you get to rediscover it again and again.

You don’t really need any new bells and whistles, just the classics. I’d love it if I could rope my parents into coming with me again this year, too, just like old times. That is, if I can break them away from their sears kitchen remodel!

Where do you spend your lunch hour

As my lunch hour approaches, I can feel the hunger pains and think of what to do today. Spring is in the air and there are several local parks within walking distance from my job. So when I am ready, I head outdoors and to the park to watch ball games, children playing football and other sports.

It feels good to sit in the fresh air and enjoy a cold drink and good salad after so many month of cold and I am a sucker for a home run hit by anyone, child or adult. It starts the thrill of a new season and gets the heart beating for the coming summer. After I finish my meal I head back to work a few minutes early so I can catch local sports and scores on TV. I sometimes watch direct star tv at the end of a lunch hour.

Its easy to finish the rest of the afternoon and I know my how my teams are doing before I arrive home in the evening. Tomorrow I will get up and do it all again, but lunch is the one treat I always look forward too.

Take your next vacation in the great outdoors

As a child I had been camping plenty of times. I have been camping in a tent, in an RV and even in an old Volkswagen bus. The one place I had never been camping but always wanted to was camping on a boat. My boyfriend had recently gotten a boat and we decided to break it in by spending a night camping on it on the lake.

We gathered up the typical camping supplies including a tent, sleeping bag and special grill made just for a boat. We had to include a few extras like bathing suits and sun tan lotion. We stopped by the grocery store and picked up some staples like hot dogs and ingredients for smores. We got to the boat landing and launched the boat into the water.

The tent was a little hard to get up with all the wind but we managed. SO far boat camping was much nice than camping in the woods. It was cleaner and far less bugs! That night the rocking of the boat made us both sleep like babies. I would definitely go camping on a boat again.

Just recently I received a renewal notice for my auto insurance policy and I don’t mind telling you that I was not a happy camper. The first thing that struck me was that my rates had gone up. Now if I had experienced a ticket or an accident, I would not have been surprised, but since neither situation took place I decided that it was time to do some shopping for some discount auto insurance.

Fortunately I already knew that affordable car insurance is available to everyone, so I begun my research as quickly as I could, simply because I did not want to lose my window of opportunity to secure decent prices with the same or better coverage. What I quickly found out was that everyone wanted my business, so it became a challenge that required time and pleasantries, especially since some of the companies that I spoke with were more interested in selling me stuff than giving me a better deal.

After several tries, I decided that it would be more to my benefit to use the services of a company that offers free auto policy quotes and took the legwork away from me.
